Clinical Services for Dogs and Cats in Chilliwack
At Promontory Animal Hospital, we provide clinical services for dogs and cats at our clinic on Thomas Road in Chilliwack: dental care, diagnostics and imaging, skin and allergy care, pain management, laser therapy, urgent care and our pharmacy. When your pet is unwell, sore or just not themselves, this is where we find the cause and treat it.
What are clinical services at a vet clinic?
Clinical services are the care a pet needs when something is wrong, rather than routine prevention. At our clinic in Chilliwack, we provide dental treatment, in-house blood work, digital X-ray and ultrasound, skin and allergy care, pain management, therapeutic laser therapy, urgent care during opening hours and prescription medicines for dogs and cats.

We provide clinical care for dogs and cats in Chilliwack and the surrounding Fraser Valley. Each service has its own page:

Finding the cause, in-house
A diagnosis starts with a physical exam and your account of what has changed. From there we choose the tests that answer the question, and you approve a written estimate before any procedure begins.
We run all our blood work in-house. We also run faecal testing, skin scrapings and cytology (reading skin and ear samples under the microscope) in-house. Our imaging includes digital X-ray, dental X-rays, and diagnostic and emergency ultrasound (AFAST and TFAST, quick focused scans of the abdomen and chest).
When it cannot wait
Some problems need to be seen today: vomiting or diarrhea that will not settle, trouble breathing, collapse or seizures, a male cat straining to urinate, or a pet that has eaten something toxic. We welcome walk-ins for urgent cases, seven days a week. For routine appointments, booking ahead is recommended.
Our hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week. We are not a 24-hour emergency or critical care facility, so outside our hours please contact a nearby 24-hour veterinary hospital. See urgent care for dogs and cats for the signs to watch for.
Care that continues after the first visit
We often manage arthritis, allergies and dental disease over months rather than fixing them in one visit. A plan usually includes rechecks and, for some pets, ongoing medicine from our vet pharmacy. If your pet needs surgery, we cover that under pet surgery.
Echocardiography
Heart ultrasound (echocardiography) is performed at our clinic by a visiting specialist. Our diagnostics and imaging page explains the rest of our imaging.
Do I need a referral to bring my pet in?
No. You can call us directly on 604-991-2745 or use our contact form. We are accepting new clients now, ahead of opening in late October.
What should I bring to an appointment for a sick pet?
Bring any health records and vaccination history you have, plus a list of your pet's current medications, supplements and diet. Bring your pet safely secured on a leash or in a carrier.
Do you see urgent cases without an appointment?
Yes. We welcome walk-ins for urgent cases, seven days a week. For routine appointments, booking ahead is recommended. If you can, call 604-991-2745 on the way so our team can prepare for your arrival.
How much will my pet's treatment cost?
It depends on what your pet needs. Before any testing, treatment or procedure begins, we give you a detailed written estimate to review and approve, and we will walk you through it.
