Orthopaedic vet surgery in Chilliwack

When you bring in a limping dog, we look at many possible causes, from a cut paw pad or a torn nail to a sprain, a slipping kneecap, a torn ligament or a broken bone. Some settle with rest; others need treatment quickly.

Call us the same day if your pet will not put any weight on a leg, the leg looks bent or swollen, your pet cries when it is touched, or the limp follows a fall, a car accident or a fight. Sudden limping and trauma are among the urgent problems we assess during our opening hours, 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week; see emergency and urgent care. We are not a 24-hour hospital.

Until your pet is seen, keep them quiet and confined, carry small pets, and never give human pain medicine, which can be dangerous for dogs and cats.

We arrange each of the procedures below at our clinic through a visiting specialist, so your pet has the surgery here in Chilliwack rather than travelling elsewhere. Call us to talk about timing for your pet.

• Luxating patella surgery: for a kneecap that slips out of its groove, common in small breeds.

Our veterinarians examine your pet, take digital X-rays in-house and explain what they show; see diagnostics and imaging. If surgery is recommended, you receive a written estimate you approve before any procedure begins. We accept pet insurance. We provide the invoices and documentation you need to submit your claim.

Once the visiting specialist has operated, we manage your pet's recovery here: weeks of restricted activity while the bone or joint heals. We offer therapeutic laser therapy at our clinic as part of post-operative recovery, and pet pain management to help keep your pet comfortable.
